Bruce R. Gilbert, MD, PhD, HCLD – Medical and Laboratory Director

Dr. Gilbert is a Urologist and Research Scientist who founded NY Cryo in 1997 and has an active clinical practice in Reproductive and Sexual medicine. He is also Medical and Laboratory Director of New York Cryo, the premier long term reproductive tissue bank for sperm, oocytes and embryos in the region.

Dr. Gilbert is Professor of Urology at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine and the Director of Reproductive and Sexual Medicine at the Smith Institute for Urology of the Northwell Health System. Dr. Gilbert has authored over 100 publications and is recognized as an expert in Male Fertility, Male Sexual Function and Urologic Ultrasound. He is passionate about Urologic education and has organized training programs in microsurgery and urologic ultrasound as well as lectured locally, nationally and internationally.

Dr. Gilbert completed his medical degree in 1983 at Cornell University Medical College and Urology Residency at the New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center.  Prior to that he completed a Doctorate (Ph.D.) at the New York Medical College followed by postdoctoral work in Renal Physiology supported by the New York Heart Association in the Department of Physiology at Cornell University Medical College.

Dr. Gilbert’s private practice for the past 20 years has specialized in male reproductive and sexual medicine and surgery including male prosthetic surgery.  He is an experienced microsurgeon having performed over a 1000 microsurgical procedures including vasectomy reversals, microsurgical varicocele ligation and microsurgical testicular sperm retrieval.  He was also one of the first Urologists in the region to perform the no-needle, no-scalpel vasectomy.   Dr. Gilbert has also gained national prominence for his use of Holistic approaches for the treatment of chronic urologic problems. He has been in Private Practice in Great Neck, Long Island, New York for the past 27 years. He specializes in complex microsurgical procedures for male fertility and male prosthetic surgery.  He also treats both men and women with sexual function concerns.

Dr. Gilbert is certified by the American Board of Urology and the American Board of Medical Acupuncture. He is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. He serves as a reviewer for many Urological, Reproductive Medicine and Complementary Medicine Journals. He has been selected as one of “America’s Top Physicians” and is listed in the “Guide to America’s Top Physicians” published by the Consumers’ Research Council of America, Washington, DC.

He is married with two children and is a proud grandfather. He is also an instrument rated pilot.

Mary is involved in both the clinical and administrative operations of the office. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family.

Ebert John Raza, moved from Cebu City, Philippines to New York, USA.   He has received a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Velez College and a Doctor of Medicine from Southwestern University in Cebu City, Philippines. He is a licensed medical technologist in NY State and a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology. He has worked as a medical technologist since 2012 and has been working as a  blood bank technologist since 2013. In his spare time, Ebert enjoys spending time with his wife, children and family.

Dennis Marchesi, MS – Laboratory Consultant

Dennis Marchesi has been an integral member of our team since 1997 when we began reproductive tissue banking.  He has been instrumental in developing many of our laboratory protocols. He received his Masters of Science degree from St. John’s University.

Dennis is a New York State licensed medical technologist and is a prolific researcher with more than 20 publications. He  has presented his work nationally. He is a member of the American Society of Andrology (ASA) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).
